Fort Richardson State Park, Texas

Fort Richard State Park, Jacksboro Texas January 24 - 26, 2022 Time to de-winterize and take a break from the traveling.       We had a nice spot (#24)with a sunken area behind us and trees with leaves!  We were told they were oak trees but they did not look like the oak trees we're use to.   And we had a little visitor to drink the water spilt while hooking up.  The park ranger told us they hadn't had any rain since mid October. The State Park was an army post in the 1800’s and was also the home base for a troop in WWII. They were involved with building the bridge represented in The Bridge Over The River Ki. They were captured and held as prisoners of war for 3 years. Their families were not aware of this until their release. Summer and Fall 2021

Remainder of 2021 Benton Beach Campground The end of June we spent a week at the Benton Beach Campground on Little Rock Lake in Benton County, MN.  We basically stayed here instead of a hotel during Covid.  It had nice facilities but we did not use them other than sleeping and using the shower facilities.   It appears there have been some nice changes since we stayed there. https://co.benton.mn.us/facilities/facility/details/benton-beach-3 St Croix State Park We also spend a night at St. Croix State Park.  This is a smaller state park set way back from the road.  We did not have cell phone service to make calls or internet on our phones but we could receive and send text messages.  The campground is small with campers parked close to each other and no real privacy.  The facility has a nice shower house, with metered showers.  OK, I'd never experienced that before and it took a minute to figure it out.   I did not explore this park, but it was fun to sit and listen to the whippoorw
